Walking the Cape Wrath Trail

A topnotch WordPress.com site

Blog by Mark Patterson, freelance journalist and writer, author of Roman Nottinghamshire and A Short Walk up Dere Street (found in the anthology Maps), both books published by Five Leaves Publications. Deeply interested in walking – including its social history as a necessity before it became a leisure activity and the implications for health and the environment of societies where most people aren’t normally prepared to walk any distance. Currently working on several book ideas based on these interests which sometimes overlap, but do not replicate, the work of writers such as Robert MacFarlane, Rebecca Solnit etc. There’s a few novels to get out too (isn’t there always?). My other blogs include Jacobite Dreams dedicated to cultural memories of the Jacobites, and the self-explanatory Roman Nottinghamshire.
